A dictionary is the backbone of any language with a written script. Studying a language, particularly a foreign language without having an access to a good and standard dictionary will make the language study cumbersome. The Japanese Malayalam dictionary is intended for the Malayalam speakers to study Japanese language and literature and the present dictionary is a significant milestone in the sphase of growing relationship between japan and Kerala in recent years in the field of trade and commerce. It contains 53,000 headwords which are given in traditional Japanese Script order, gojuu-on-jun. It is published by arrangement with Institute for Languages and Cultures of Asia and Africa (ILCAA) and Tokyo University of Foriegn Studies (TUFS).
